We all know that Florida is notorious for those middle of the day rain showers, but there are times, like on our last trip, when a hurricane is nearby and the rain will last longer than those normal Florida showers. We happened to be in Orlando during Hurricane Elsa, and most of our days were full of rain. Luckily for us, a little rain never bothered us anyway ;). If you are not ponchos all day in the park people, I put together a list of some rainy day fun to be had while in Disney World!
- Head over to Disney Springs for a day of shopping. Yes, you will have to walk outside between stores, but there are so many fun stores and treat shops at Disney Springs you will be sure to find something that everyone in your party enjoys!
- Spend the afternoon at Splittsville. Did you know that there is an awesome bowling alley/restaurant located at Disney Springs? Lace up your stylish bowling shoes and have a little bit of family/friend competition showing off your bowling skills!
- Rent a movie from your resort or check out the show-times at the AMC dine-in theater at Disney Springs. Select Disney resorts offer dvd rentals, but if yours doesn’t, you could always bring your own favorites from home and save them for a rainy day. Buy some popcorn or throw a bag into your microwave (if your room has one) and cuddle up to relax and watch your movie!!
- Channel your inner child, and spend a few hours playing games at your resorts arcade! Arcades are not just for kids! Challenge your kids, spouse, friends to an intense game of air hockey, or take turns trying to get the highest score on any of your favorite games.
- Hop on a bus, monorail or Skyliner (pending there is no lightning) and go explore another resort! Grab a last minute reservation, join a walk-up list or try a quick service restaurant at a different resort. Disney resorts all have distinct theming, spend time taking in the details and possibly even challenge each other to see who can find the most hidden Mickey’s!
