We just returned from our first summer trip to Disney with our two boys in tow. It was a fantastic trip, but it was HOT! While we currently reside in South Carolina, my husband and I are both from northern states so we thought it would be beneficial to put together some tips to make the Florida heat more manageable and enjoy your trip to the fullest!
- Take advantage of the FREE ice waters at all restaurant locations. At any sit down restaurant, ask for an ice water to go and at quick service locations ask for an ice water. We noticed that even when we mobile ordered, when we went to pick up our food, they had a tray of ice waters already made and ready to give away. Not only will you stay hydrated, but you will save $3.50 by not buying a water bottle at quick service locations. That money can definitely be put toward better use for a snack, or souvenir.
- Bring your own refillable water bottle. This goes along with the previous tip, but you can either fill your bottle at one of the water fountains or pour the ice waters from the restaurants into them. We did this with our boys water bottles throughout the day.
- Wear light fabric, breathable clothing and bring a change of clothes. We actually went back to our room midday and freshened up and changed, but we had brought our change of clothes to the parks in case we needed to change before our break!
- Portable fan, neck fans, stroller fan, cooling towels, sunscreen and face wipes will all be your friend during those hot summer months! If you have kids in strollers, make sure you have stroller fans and extra batteries or a way to recharge the battery (portable charger). We had to charge our fans with our portable charger a little over halfway through the day.
- Plan your day to have a middle of the day lunch break, either at a sit down restaurant, (hello air conditioning!!!) that requires an advanced reservation or at a quick service where you can sit in a shaded area. With all of the walking you will be doing at Disney, your legs will thank you for a bit of a break!
How do you beat the heat at Disney?!
